Lunenburg Old Home Day - August 2

The Old Town Hall, located at the top of the Lunenburg Common, was open and staffed by members of the Historical Society from 10 AM - 2 PM. There were some new exhibits this year, including original school superintendent reports from the mid 1800s, a classroom "Dick and Jane" instruction book used in the Lunenburg schools, and a wildflower display. The Society's calendars were available - 2008 is now $5, all previous years $3 - along with other history related items on their sale table.

The Society had information posted on their new quilt contest, to be judged during the 2009 Lunenburg Maple Festival. Handouts were available to take home for reference or to share with fellow quilters. Handouts are now available at the Alden Balch Memorial Library and HERE. Below are general details about the contest:

  • March 28, 2009 - Lunenburg's Fourth Maple Festival
  • March 21, 2009 - completed blocks due
  • Theme of the squares - "Rural Life"
  • Size of squares - 12 1/2 inch block (design filling 12 inches, 1/2 inch for assembly)
  • Adult entry fee - $2 per block
